Hey Everyone

I'm Paul, I moved to south florida (deerfield beach) from pittsburgh about a year and a half ago. i still have a 98 420a with a custom turbo kit sitting back home in pittsburgh. here in south florida i have a 99 gs-t. Since i'm new to the area i joined here to make some new friends and get some help with the car. could anyone help me locate a good mechanic in or around the area... i had a valve replacement about 6 months ago when my timing belt snapped took to to the company the tow truck was from (big mistake) and since then my harmonic balancer has gone out 3 times the belts squeak like crazy.

It's possible everything could just be a little loose. How does it drive?

Oh and Welcome Paul #2...

There's only enough room for one Paul with a boosted 420A around here... :P

I say ditch the stock pulley altogether and get an AF/X underdrive pulley. They're light, one solid piece (well, two pieces really: but they won't separate like the stocker), and machined very well.

it runs alright ... the higher the rpm the more squeak there is. once you the car also vibrates pretty bad when idling. ( i do have s 3in maf, translator, and new intake pipe, atmosphere bov) those are the only upgrades I've done to the car. I just don't get how the harmonic balancer keeps breaking.. the only think i can think of is the pullys don't line up. and this happened when they guy put the engine back in. could that be possible

The current car in question is a GST Velocita, not a 420. :P

Sounds like they screwed the balancer. I suggest you do yourself a favor and pick up a Fluidampr, but that's just me. FWIW the Fluidampr is a slight underdrive (1-2%? Don't think it was done that way intentionally, think that's just how it worked out).

Oh, I apologize, I didn't see the part about your 99 GS-T down here. The AF/X UDP is only for the 420A.

Because you can never know too many bartenders or cops. Here's to you!
Welcome aboard. I know a good mechanic in broward but he's right on county line so It might be a tow for you. If your still interested, PM and I'll give you the shops info. Better yet, you can take it to a 4g63 specialist that is garry. All the guys here go to him when their damsells in distress.lol.
Shops called speed injected, web site seems to be down now, but I'm sure Silly can give you the adress, he's got it tatted behind his left testicle.

Ah, yes, here it is...

315 Ansin Blvd
Hallandale Beach, FL

954 454 9697

You're on your own with the zip code -- I'm not that flexible anymore, and there's too much hair in the way anyway.

They're closed Sunday and Monday.

Garry is an interesting guy. If you go down there and you're nice/humble he'll become one of your best buds. If you go down there with any sort of attitude, it's possible that you'll be "asked" to leave. Also, *NEVER* run into the shop. :)

If you don't listen... well, just don't say I didn't warn you.

When Will wants to, he can be a total kiss-ass :P
None of you guys have witness the pounding we take from Garry

Also to add to the "rules", always park in a spot. Seriously, before he
even says "hi" to you, he'll tell you to put your car in a spot.
And my personal favorite is, try to pay in cash. He's not a fan of the bank....

hey guys sorry i have not been on in a long time, i've been busy with fixing the car and working.. just got a new job working for a web hosting company in ft Lauderdale as a tech support guy. i start Monday the 11th. i will have Sunday nights free for meets, I'm so excited! so please let me when the next meet is.

the problem i had with my car was the a$$ holes who fixed it never put the timing belt back on correctly. that was the belt that was squeaking and they also broke the bottom timing belt cover. found this all out when my car died and i just took it to Mitsubishi. but she runs a lot better now and no more annoying squeaking noises.

Hope to see you all soon at a meet

(aim = ewokpuck12) if anyone wants to drop me a line.
