Buschur Racing

Hotel information and banned business'

O.K. I had a meeting with the Chief of Police from Norwalk and
Norwalk Raceway Park.

Nobody wants the Shootout to end. The basics of the meeting came
down to the majority of the people that attend the shootout are great
people. It is ruined a small group of guys that cannot handle their
alcohol and the general fact that most people are slobs-pigs-litterers.

The problems this year basically arose from Arby's manager "thinking"
there could be a problem with our group of guys and calling the police
to have 4 cars moved from her parking lot (very close to closing time
anyway, I want to add). The police came, saw the large groups of
people and the alcohol and basically decided it was more fun to write
tickets for open containers than to sit and watch for someone to run a
stop light. That was Friday. On Saturday 3 additional police were added
just for patrolling the hotels and such, which added to the ticket writing.

I have spoken with all three of the major motels in Norwalk at this
point in time. They all want us back BUT they would like the noise and
reving of engines toned down and would really appreciate it if you
would put your beer cans and trash into a garbage can or your car
rather than all over their parking lots and property.

To start with, I feel Arby's in Norwalk should not longer receive a
single freaking penny from any of us when you all come to town.
With that, please to not go there to eat, do not enter their parking
lot and do not sit in their grass.

Here are phone numbers to the 3 Hotels in Norwalk for those of you
that need them. When you call let them know that you are going to be
with the Buschur Racing DSM/EVO Shootout. They are going to at the
very least try to get us all into one section of the hotels to keep the
noise down for the other guests that are staying there. This should
cause less problems.

Amerihost 419-663-1922

Best Western 419-663-3501

Econolodge 419-668-5656

You can call at anytime to start booking rooms. You guys may want
to concentrate on filling one complete hotel at a time, if we have the
entire hotel rented there won't be problems with other people
staying there.

Thanks,

David Buschur

Dam, after a good phone call from a friend. I just re-realized how
much fun this shootout just might be.
Jake is going to be there this year.
My buddy Brent from JMF is bring out the sickness(well I hope he is  )
And a whole bunch of people from PA are bringing out some competition.
Kurt(K_Mans from DSMtalk) is bringing his 2g monster.
I believe the guys from DogBox will be there as well.
And of course Shep, Marco, Rau and AMS will be there as well. ImageImage

I'm real excited now and can't wait.....

OK, well things have certainly change, after speaking with a few people.
So, I guess I'll have to start planning on making that drive :(

I really wish more of us were going, maybe next year?

All things considered, it wasn't a bad trip (even with the rain out) but things went very downhill, very quickly, starting Sunday. :Boo:

Supposed to be a make-up date in the next month or two. We'll have to wait and see what happens.

Yea, 07047 and 07048 are of Eriks car. You been living under a rock apparently -- Erik made a new record pass for 1g AT AWD's -- 9.48 @ 142mph. Weren't able to get a back-up pass though. Maybe this coming weekend at Moroso. We'll see.

I have video footage to review (about two hours worth). Hopefully I got some that's worth posting. :)

OK, well it was a 20+ hour drive home from Norwalk and I'm just now
getting back into my routine. Yesterday, I was completely out of it,
as I imagine Will and Diego were, and everybody that went.

So this is my take on this Shootout weekend, which was my first.
When it became clear that Sunday was going to be a washout, I became
very disappointed to say the least. And then there were other things
that started to get me a little irritated. But I'm more about positivity, I
always try to find some good in whatever situation I'm in.
I had alot time to reflect on the way home because you don't want
to think: I drove all the way up here for nothing.

So this was my weekend(more or less), I left early thursday morning to
avoid WPB traffic. Car was great for the first 600-700 miles, gas prices
improved along the way as well. Somewhere in South or North Carolina,
I noticed the temps climbing just a little bit and I thought
it's got to be a fan issue. I drove for a little bit then pulled over and
found a spot behind a restaurant(in the shade) and I could here
my a/c fan rubbing something. (Long story, short)
I fix the fan issue, get lunch and I'm back on the road. West Virgina
kick my ass a little bit because it was essentially the biggest/longest
road rally course in the world. At one moment I was doing 55 going
around a mile long L turn and the next I'm going down a hill
(off the gas)doing 95. About 3/4 of the way, it started raining hard.
So I decided safety first and stopped for a nap. That was a tough road
to sustain any speed on, I'm glad there was no traffic.

Finally, get to Ohio and it was a beautiful morning to drive. Ohio is just
so different from south florida in many ways. I wish I could've stopped
to get some pics of what I'm trying to say about Ohio.
I never been to Ohio or West Virgina ever before this trip.

Finally I'm here, roll into Norwalk early, before everyone else.
I drove around downtown for awhile and made my way back to the track.
I'm tired, hungry and I want to relax. So, I park and eat lunch and
watch some racing. Everybody shows up later on, picks a spot and
they set up a huge camp site. We're hanging out and Will spots Hal Landry.
Then, We got stuck outside of the track with our cars inside.
Another confusing story but while we were waiting to get back in
myself, Will and Diego start chatting it up with Hal.
What a cool guy Hal is and full of knowledge of so many different things
besides DSM's. And his car is fuckin sick, in so many different ways.
It goes 11s too(so far) and he let me and Will drive it around the pits.

Later on in the day we're all hanging out and a few more people come by.
Including a my buddy Brent from JMFab, with his sick 1g.
He started the car and there was a wrapping sound so he took off the
t-belt cover and began looking around.
I noticed the belt had a mark on it, like something was rubbing it.
After that, a mad dash/scramble began to get the cover off and
examine the problem. So we spent quiet a bit of time on that. Cole
and a few people went into town to get some pizza for everybody.
Brent gets the car back together and the battery is dead. It just wasn't
his day that day. Finally he says fuck it and goes for a pass but the
staging lanes close.

While all this is happening, Erik goes and runs 9.xxx @ 142.9 without
us noticing  . Somebody else noticed and came over and
said he saw a 1g go 9's and we all thought it has to be Erik.
He came back and no fire suit on, half the roll cage missing no pants,
short sleeve shirt and maybe had a few drinks. He was fired up all night
and I got a little bit of it on film.
One issue came up though, which was the time slip, it read 1.0 60ft,
which is impossible. So the rest of the slip is under some discrepancy
but the mph should be right.

The track closes and were all hanging out once again, time to get the
party started. And who bitches out first and goes to sleep, no one other
Spoolin himself and most of the SFR crew.
LET IT BE KNOWN: Me, Will, Hal and some MI DSMers were good to go
and stayed up for a while.

I'll get to part two in a little while...

Part two

Ok, so my last post was maybe too long . And everything is just coming
back to me as I type.

That track was in absolutely amazing condition, Just more thing this past
weekend, you had to be there to see. The cleanliness and just how
professional everything was. I can just go on and on and on.

Ok, Saturday was party day and a full day. Everybody got up
at different times and went separate ways, we could never get organized.
This alone is a good reason to have a car(Prefably your DSM )
It's all good though, I ended up at Bu$hnut$ twice not by choice.
Second time around is when I wanted to be there. The shear amount of people
that showed was amazing. And everybody's enthusiasm(for me) was a breath of air.
It's good to know people still care about these pos 17? years after
the first one rolled off the plant.

I honestly didn't take enough pictures and more people continued to
show after we left around 3 or 4:30(I don't really remember).
And the women at this year's shootout
the quantity and quality, you couldn't complain about.
David was out and about(here and there)being the usual ass he is.
Sickest car without a doubt that auto mirage(Yes, a mirage) from Canada

One more thing about Saturday, during my first trip to buschurs. I parked
next to a guy who drove his 1G therefrom WI(pics in the my gallery) So
he wins the title of Who Drove their car the farthest to the Shootout.

Saturday night, there was some good racing. And then the rains started
to come, on and off. Now the drinks start coming, of course we went through
a couple bottles of Jager. I know Will had a considerable amount, hell
I served us a couple of drinks. As the night got going Erik just disappeared
in fear of things to come if he should sleep early
At this point we need Will's footage, because it was just one thing after
another. I think the funnest thing all night besides Spoolin's indecent
exposure, was the nitrous inside of sleeping tent episode.

Can't tell what time we all went to sleep, it's somewhat of a blur.

Now Sunday, was all downhill. I just continued to sleep as the rain fell.
At this point I didn't know what to think or do. So I just hung out
and eventually hooked up with Will and Diego and we just came home.
I'm trying to keep this short just give you guys an idea how the weekend
went from my perspective.

Despite Sunday being a complete waste in more ways then one. Overall, I'm
still glad I made the trip and never once did I think"what a waste".
I got to hangout with one of the smartest DSMers around. Meet new people,
put online names to faces and experience the shootout(more or less).
Can't wait till next year....

shifts with antilag in the lot.
I was just trying to keep it short, like I said. I can just go on and on about

Holy fucking hell.... That Firebird with the 4G63 wins as coolest fucking swapped car I have ever seen. Even cooler than the 4G63-swapped RX-7.

A girl named Cyndi who hung out with us over the weekend took
some pics as well.

She goes by "Cyndi" on DSMtalk, I didn't realize it was her until I got home.

Nice non-working links O.

Make-up date is set for October 13th (saturday). Gates open 9am. Who is going?

I'm expecting to fly up the night of the 12th and fly back on the 14th (hoping there is some party action saturday night).

Cyndi's Pics

Anything can happen between now and then, so if I do go I'll be driving again.
I just have a hard time dealing with flying and the airport system.
I'll know more as the date gets closer....
