Time has come for another SoFlaDSM/SFME range day!

The location will be:
Pops Range
6101 U.S. 27
Southwest Ranches, FL 33332

Range hours on the 28th are from 9am to 2pm. We will meet at the range at 10am. Range fees are $21.20 per person.

The range is an "anything goes" range; rifles, pistols, shotguns, machine guns, grenade launchers, explosives. Bring it all and lets have some fun!

That said, this range is also a "bring your own everything" type of range -- do not expect to have eye protection, ear protection, or firearms available for rent, do not expect to be able to buy ammo or targets at the range. Sometimes these things are available, but not always.

I will bring wood and cardboard for the target stands, I will also have an assortment of small (8.5"x11") paper targets available, however *PLEASE* bring your own targets! Plastic bottles of at least 1 gallon in size are also permissible; just fill them with water and remove the cap!

Safety: Keep in mind that as this range is an outdoor range (don't worry, the firing line is covered/shaded) there is no automatic target retrieval system -- when you're done shooting you will have to wait for the line to go "cold" before you can go down range to work with targets. Also, while the range is "cold" firearm actions must be locked open, and magazines must be removed. There is also absolutely *NO* handling of firearms *AT ALL* on a "cold" line!

Please RSVP as soon as possible, and let me know what you will need as far as eyes/ears/targets/ammo and I'll try to get things squared away (I have extras of eye and ear protection, and I know some of our members also have extras).

See you at the range!

Confirmed attendees:

Myself + 1
O (+1?)
Agim (+1?)

Also, for those of you who do NOT own any firearms, worry not! There will be a very broad selection to chose from:

12ga shotguns (Remington 870 & 11-87, Saiga 12)
.223 rem (AR-15 rifle and pistol)
9mm (G34, G19's, AR-15(s?), etc.)
.380 ACP (P3-AT's)
.40 s&w (Sig P226's)
.357 magnum (Ruger SP101 - this also shoots .38 special)
.44 magnum (Taurus Raging Bull - this also shoots .44 special)
.22lr (Ruger 22/45, Rem. 597)
.45 ACP (G21, 1911's)
.308 win (Savage 16)
.30-30 win (Marlin 336)
7.62x39 win (SKS)

You can find the above ammo at your local Wal-mart and/or sporting goods stores, or go online.

I am in.

I will be bringing:

Sig P226 (.40S&W)
200-300 rounds of .40.

As stated before I have a friend who just took a new position, I'll know
more about his status the closer we get. He's got a few toys as well,
I really want to shoot his new Para 1911.

Agim, what are you bringing?

And if George is coming, what is he bringing?

Exploding targets unordered. I called to confirm shipment today, and was told they wouldn't arrive until next tuesday.

I've got some local leads/sources to try. We'll see.

Mike, what's your status? You and the female unit gonna make it?

Paul?

Anyone else?

As much as it pains me to say, but I'm gonna be a no go this time around. I have to be at work at 1 pm, so it wouldn't really make all too much sense to make the hour plus drive for just a few hours. Next time, we can hopefully plan a little more in advance so I can make sure I can have the day off. Have fun guys, and try to take some videos!

Hamburgers.

Paul?

Given the lower attendance level, I'm probably going to truncate the "toys" list. If there's anything you want to try, speak up or it may not make it out!

Also, I have been able to secure a supply 9mm ammo. Should you need any extra or would simply prefer to purchase it on-site, I will have it available for $11 per box of 50 (cash only!).

hmm...

Well we've been talking about this for a while now. I'm afraid to ask
this but rain check?
Will, I know you have competition coming up so a rain date may set us back.
Like I said before more people need to post up, we are not mind readers.

No I can make it.

It was just something I threw out there because I'm
concerned about attendance (or lack there of).

Also, bring this:
12ga shotguns (Remington 870 & 11-87, Saiga 12)
.223 rem (AR-15 rifle and pistol)
9mm (G34, G19's, AR-15(s?), etc.)
.40 s&w (Sig P226's)
.22lr (Ruger 22/45, Rem. 597)
.45 ACP (G21, 1911's)

Maybe (your choice to bring):
.357 magnum (Ruger SP101 - this also shoots .38 special)
.44 magnum (Taurus Raging Bull - this also shoots .44 special)

So, basically, "bring everything"...

Are you planning on bringing ammo for all that?

I wasn't going to bring any ammo other than 9mm and some .223 for myself and the wife (plus extra 9mm for y'all if you needed/wanted it).

The only reason I was even going to bring .223 was to be sure we had a way to set off the Tannerite.

Instead of forcing this to work when only 3-4 people can go, why don't we take Omar's suggestion and try again the following week? I have a family thing on Saturday morning that I might be able to push forward to Friday, but it would be a big hassle.

Postponing is ok by me if that's what the group wants to do.

That opens me up to be able to do the machine gun shoot on Sunday.

As rain-dates/availability go, my next "free" weekend is May 19th/20th.

Well, I really want to shoot that Saiga.

And I Love shooting the AR, this time I want to rapid fire.
I should just come up by you next time I go to Arizona to borrow it.

The other stuff is here or there, I did want to shoot your Sig again.

As far as the rain date goes, I hope we do actually get together
for this event. I have a feeling we will go back and forth on the date.

May 19th will be a no go for me, as I am currently scheduled to be in Georgia
that weekend for the Import Showdown. Maybe, I'll even be racing too,
stranger things have happen.

Any other weekend should be fine for me, other than the week of the shootout.

I guess I'll actually need to buy ammo. The 26 rounds I've got wont last long.

Omar, I'll probably slap together another AR lower with a slide-fire stock on it, so we'll be able to shoot my 16" .223 upper on that (we can shoot the 9mm one too).

Check youtube for some videos of the slidefire.

AJ, you may want to bring COPIOUS amounts of ammo. :-D

Mike can vouch for the fact that a range trip with me means you better bring your ammo in bulk!

I too, am now wondering if the 28th is dead?

I'm still good for this weekend, I just have to go get ammo.
I'll bring a box of .223 for the AR, I want to go all out.

Edit- I may need to bring a couple of boxes

Your best bet is something like this:

Image

The funny part (to me) is that I'm sure at least one of you thinks I'm kidding.

If you think the slide fire looks fun, you will want to bring a *LOT* more 9mm as well. Just sayin'.

For the AR? 30 for the .223 upper and 32 for the 9mm upper.

Some of my other toys have mags going from 32rds up to 72rds (all 9mm).

I've also got a 10rd stick mag and a 25rd drum mag for the Saiga 12. I still haven't figured out the best way to shoot it with the big drum attached. I'm thinking I'll have to get the smaller 10-12rd drum as that is less than half the size and thus should be easier to grip around. A lot of folks say to just hang on to the bottom of the mag, but that can cause feed issues (I haven't run into them yet, but I'd rather not start either).

I've also been wanting a 100rd 9mm beta drum with a couple different feed towers but ~$300 for a mag (plus another ~$200 for custom feed towers) is just too much cash to drop on a 100 rd drum when 72rd Suomi drums are $25 and 36rd round stick mags are ~$20/ea. I just wish I could still find 50rd mags at a reasonable price; I bought 4 when I found them on sale for $40/ea, but the best I can find now is ~$70/ea! :o

Then again, I look at the price of original M11 .380 mags and I'm thankful I don't own one of those (can be upwards of $200+ per original mag these days).

So I guess the decision for tomorrow is to postpone? That seems to be the consensus from the three other posters...

It looks like it's going to rain tomorrow anyway. Might be for the best to postpone.

Maybe I'll get lucky and it won't rain. It'll give me a chance to wash the car before my road trip.
