You can always count on bad weather in South Florida. But that
doesn't stop South Florida DSM, yes! time for another meet everybody:

Checkers
5590 N University Dr
Lauderhill, FL
->Map <-
There's a Discount Auto parts store across the street from us on the
NE corner of University and Commericial, just incase your still lost on
location.

This is more or less an all DSM meet, N/t(420a's) and Evo's are also
welcome and upon ocassion our members will invite friend's from other
boards or clubs. Which is cool as long as everyone who stops/comes
by can be civil.

And if your car is not running don't feel bad, just try to stop by anyway
and have a good time(we welcome beaters :P ). I hope to see everyone
there this sunday, until then take care...

Not sure if I'll be there or not. I may just stop by for a quick meet 'n' greet, but definitely not long-term. I have company this weekend.

As AJ said girl > dsm.

I will see, depends how I like the car running without the tune, new mbc, and the port job I did on the turbo (so it doesnt creep).

I made the flapper open 90 degrees and increased the airflow to the flapper area. And ported the O2 housing slightly. Yea, so i dont get creep.

i did exactly the same thing (porting the O2 housing, but it didn't fix the creep, just made it a little more controllable, now i can set my mbc to 20 and it will creep till 22

I think it will, considering it only opened at a 45 degree angle before, and now its at 90 degrees.

I thought you'd never ask....

Internal wastegate actuators only move like 1/4" or so of travel

I'd suggest you adjust back it so it tightly seals when not activated.
Most internal gates leak at idle, there should be pressure on it to
keep it as closed as possible.

Set the arm so that there is some tension holding the flap door
closed when the system is at rest. If you don't have it tight
enough the boost response will suck and your spoolup rpm will
be ~1000rpm too high. Why would you mess with it to begin with
Shane?

Also, where do you get this stuff from??

It is closed shut and there lots of tension holding it there. I got this from here, did exactly everything it says. http://www.dsmtuners.com/forums/showthread.php?t=186525 Tons of people have done it and it solved all there creep issues.

everybody thinks it does a difference... i did mine and didn't notice it. I fix it in the way will recomend it "if you car creeps till 22psi, crank up the boost till 22psi" and it worked  now it doesn't creep any further than 22psi

lol, mine creeped past 30psi before. But with my cat on it didnt. So hopefully this cures it.

Generally, the best way to avoid/cure creep is to crank up the boost.

The only way I found to truely eliminate creep is to swap to a 34mm flapper, or go to an external w/g. Though, going to the 34mm sucks because it can cause you to be top-limited on boost once the pressure pre-turbo in the exhaust system gets high enough (you'll have this problem on a standard-size WG as well, but the larger flapper makes it worse).

O, cranking down the internal wastegate to help boost response has nothing to do with creep.

Shane, while enabling the flapper to open 90* seems as though it would help, remember that the wastegate actuator is what actually controls the movement of the flapper, and the w/g actuator doesn't usually have enough movement in it to open the WG much more than that original 30-45* anyway. You could try changing the length of the arm (as I know at least one person on here has) however, that comes with its own set of problems and doesn't seem to resolve it all that well anyway. Turbo companies go to great lengths to figure out what works best, so unless you're doing something really nutty, most changes like that will net little to no benefit.

Porting of the o2 housing (w/g portion) may help a little bit, but I wouldn't expect it to resolve it totally. Externally dumped o2 housings don't tend to help much either and sometimes even worsen the problem -- the same with removing the cat/exhaust (as you found out/experienced).

Or (the best solution IMO) just get a bigger turbo.

Haha. Well I like my turbo alot and I have yet to feel its true power, so I dont want to give up on it just yet. If this little port job didnt work then Im going to try external dump and see if that works. Or if all else fails either weld the flapper shut and try external or stick a cat back on :o

Not to mention external dumps, just sound like absolute ass

Turning up the boost can be dangerous too  Boost creep is one
of those mysteries of turbo charging. And I've noticed it to be more
of a 2G problem? weird....
