As nice as this would be to set-up, it's probably better to just wait till Oct. 15 for Moroso to reopen. Plus it'll give more people locally to get their respective set-ups up to speed (i.e. - myself, Will, Brian etc.). Going so far away limits the amount of people (drivers/chickens  ) that would be able to attend. Not to forget the high gas prices and our present economic state. Our club spans 4 different counties now, and it would be nice to have a decent amount of SoFla DSM cars going down the track as opposed to the usual 2 sometimes 3.

Plus I am kinda of partial to Moroso since it's only 20-30 minutes from my house.

P.S. - It might be prudent to start a new thread so we all can pick a day when the new track is ready so everyone has time to coordinate with a decided date. That way we all have something to look forward to and time to get our S$#t straight. There's 4-5 "potentially serious cars that I know of in the club so far and I think others will agree that SoFla DSM need to start flexing some of it's muscles lol.

Couldn't have said it any better myself. I TOTALLY agree with you, Ed, about this meet situation. Expecially now that gas is rediculous, and the meet does span 4 different counties. Maybe itd be better to meet maybe once a month at the track....I think it'll give everyone more insentive to come to the track/ meet....Race, hang out, see other cars and get our name out there. I think it'd be cool to know that when we pull up, people know that we have about *potentially* 4-5 12 second cars ready to go. I can say this right now, Id work a lot harder to attend a SoFlaDSM meet if it were at Moroso, maybe just once or twice every couple months. Not to say I can go to the Checkers meet right now since I work every Sunday, but its true. Sunday is a hard day for some poeple to get out...something during the week *like a Wednesday night test and tune* would be a lot more helpful for all of us to get together. Just my .02...

this may be a bit off topic, but it popped into my head lol.

4 Counties, yeah we have grown.

But I said for everybody to keep track of that thread.
I didn't say we all have to go, I'm dying for some racing.
The only thing happening to my car is a rebuilt bottom end.
As soon as I get some things in order.

Also that date isn't a given, keep in mind the weather will play a big role in that.
Everyday they can't work on the track sets them back another day.

Everybody seems to have different priorities now-a-days. So I don't
always expect "full participation" especially in anything involving traveling a "long" distance.

Brian: 12 second cars? No.... 4-5 11 second cars atleast! lol.

"O" - I realize not many people can do that, nor did I forget that we all have different priorities these days. That's why I brought this up. I feel if given enough time, enough people can make time out of there daily routine (work, family, wives  etc.) and plan a couple of hours to come together as a club. I realize the weather should also be taken into account also. I'm just thinking out loud as usual.

That's fine Ed.
:)

Brian what you're talking about is fine and dandy, as well.
But a bit off topic, so if you'd like start a new thread about meeting up north.
Or just changing things up, start a new thread.

This thread is not a "Hey, lets all go to Bradenton in September" thread.
I'm just informing you guys about a DSM specific event in FL.

I have no expectation what so ever from this, heck it might even get delayed.

Edit*- just noticed this:

I understand this and I agree. I just think we should be doing this for our club.
It'll be hard given the activity on the boards sometimes but should be promoted also.

Let me stop ranting and get back to my money pit lol.

We already have ~4 12 sec cars in the club. We need to work on the 11 and 10 second categories (maybe even 9's?).

So far as wednesday night meets, as the cars get faster those are going to be more and more difficult given that there is going to be work the next day for many of us. Friday or saturday TNT's will work better given the pre and post race work involved IMO.

Maybe if we had some CB pixie dust we could drive to the track, swap tires, run 9's, then swap tires, and drive back home but without it I think most of the faster cars will be constrained to a truck/trailer.

Anyhow, I do like the idea of a pre-scheduled track meet (similar to our previous "one weeks notice" sort of events). I think it might be best to wait until a bit after the track is reopened again though -- don't forget that the new surface will need to be broken in/seasoned before it's going to really hook.

Gallon of VHT, WTF?

Anyways, I agree with Will on the "track needing to get seasoned" and I think,
I may have even mentioned that to someone before. Either way, when
Moroso does open back up I won't be racing right away. Whatever issues or
problems that may arise(I hope not). I'd like for that to be taken care of/sorted out.
And then hopefully I can become a regular "track go-er" even though,
I live almost 2 hours away.

It's can only be 2 hrs if you drive like great grandma at 50mph :fu2:
Honestly, when me and "D" would go up there it would take an hour at the most I believe. And this is when I lived in Pembroke Pines. You're not that much farther SE from where I used to live.

Wait I said it's "about" 2 hours from me, it doesn't take me that long.

I look at how far it is and it's depressing, so I take the TP.
So that I can haul ass up there because 95 is too dam slow.

Also, speaking about CB pixel dust, he broke a autozone U-joint at the SO.
And drove home FWD and the T case is "slated for AK47 practice".
How does he do it?

Pixie, not pixel.

And part of his "secret formula" is a bottomless wallet (figured that out this weekend chatting with him).
