Somebody "educate" me on this whole re-call business.

I know what part fails and how it fails. I thought the "re-call" fixed this
and that you could bring your car to Satan to perform the work and
not have anymore problems?

According to Satan the recall was done due to poor design. The LCA's were failing prematurely which required them to have the older types recalled and replaced with a "newer type" that was apparently redesigned in some way (not sure what exactly as far as the ball joints were chancged). Being that this was done 7 years ago, it is not longer warrantied as it is a "wear and tear" part.

Ahh ok.

"Recalls" are one time only fixes. Typical "stealer"ship bullshit.
That sucks, especially on a part like that...

:(

Recalls are *NOT* only one-time fixes. It depends on the severity of the recall. Ex: the recall on the 1g tcase/drive shaft yolks is *LIFETIME* of the car. The dealer will balk, bitch, and fight about it, but if you're dilligent in your efforts, they will follow the letter of the law and do the recall.

In the case of the lower control arms is a one time deal because when they do the recall the first time they change the part with a new and improved (lol) part, so that you should have no problems in the future other than tear and wear.
Still even when the recall wasn't done on the car they will find the way around so that you will have to pay if you want them to do it. I know because it happened to me on my car about 1 or 2 years ago (off course I didn't pay and did it my self) :P

I'm not sure about the eclipse but the balljoint recall for the avengers (which is the same as an eclipse) it's for the life of the car. So I can get it as many times as need be.

My last avenger, I had it done twice by the dealership. I had it done when I aquired the car and once again because the drivers side went bad.
