You can always count on bad weather in South Florida. But that
doesn't stop South Florida DSM, yes! time for another meet everybody:

Parking lot @ Checkers
5590 N University Dr
Lauderhill, FL
->Map <-
There's a Discount Auto parts store across the street from us on the
NE corner of University and Commericial, just incase your still lost on
location.

This is more or less an all DSM meet, N/t(420a's) and Evo's are also
welcome and upon ocassion our members will invite friend's from other
boards or clubs. Which is cool as long as everyone who stops/comes
by can be civil.

And if your car is not running don't feel bad, just try to stop by anyway
and have a good time(we welcome beaters :P ). I hope to see everyone
there this sunday, until then take care...

Ced and I were the first ones there, as usual lol. Then came Ed, George, Lionel, Will, and then 2 new guys. I can't remember what their names were, but one had a 91(?) TSi with minor mods, but clean as hell body work/paint. And his friend that came with him is a VW nut. The owner of the tsi said that he works directly for MMCA, so he had some inside info on the evo x, and full jdm evo9 mr that "should" be comming over here soon. I dunno if what he said was actually true or not, but if it was, some pretty good info and a look into what's to come from Mitsu.

I bought the 14b from Ed, and I am awaiting to buy the instal kit for it.

Other than that, a slow, but fun meet. No pics this time :(

Full JDM Evo 9? What the fuck? JDM as in they're going to be selling RHD models in America? Or just that it's going to look like the Evo 9 they sell in other countires? And what did he say about the Evo X? Anything that everyone doesn't know about it already? I want to know if this guy was for real, or if he was yanking your chain.

Sounds like a decent meet. Nothing special, though. :P

As for full JDM, I meant that it will have the exact full yaw control and ACD drivetrain, which the USDM models don't have. He said that the concept pictures floating around online are of the new "Lancer". He said that people were outraged because it doesn't look like a rally car, so they are basing the "evo x" off of that model. He confirmed it will only be paddle shifter/tiptronic. He said it's quick as fuck, and the interior feels VERY cheap, even compared to current evos lol.

Did I miss anything else that he said, guys?

You missed that the "people" he was talking about weren't consumers -- apparently the rally team engineers were very adament about not accepting/working with the new styling.

I'd guess it was some sort of aero issue, but I honestly haven't got anything factual to base that on -- it's just a guess.

USDM Evos have come with the Active Center Differential (ACD) since 2005...

As far as Active Yaw Control (AYC) goes, from what I've read, Mitsubishi will not be releasing it on USDM Evos. The reasons being cost, maintenance, and emissions issues.

The next platform, which would mean the Evo X, is supposed to use Mitsubishi's new S-AWC (Super All Wheel Control) system, which is almost identical to the ATTESA-ETS system used on the Skyline GT-Rs. It's a torque-vectoring system. I'll find the article that explains it as I can of the top of my head.

He tried to tell you that these pictures (http://forums.streetfire.net/showthread.php?t=1999) are pictures of the base model Lancer? That looks like it would be an Evo concept if I ever saw one...

I'm sort of skeptical about this kid.

Will, what do you think? Think he really works for MMCA?

I wouldn't say "kid" but I think maybe there was just an issue with communication.

Honestly, I thought he was talking about the Evo X the whole time. :??:

The only thing that really stuck in my head as noteworthy was he mentioned that MMNA may be offering factory-backed upgrade packages via Ralliart (real stuff like larger turbos, cams, etc., not just wheels and rice packages).

Plus, the info he has could be 8 months old and MMNA changed their mind 3-4 months ago about something.

I just want to know the specs on the new engine
they're going to use? If it isn't broke why fix it?
so there must be something about this new engine that
makes it better than the 4G? It's a real risky move by mitsu...

Well, while everyone else (Auto OEM) is moving forward and progressing and coming up with all sorts of new things, Mitsu has stuck with ~15 year old engine technology and only really updated it -- they haven't come up with any true innovations in a LONG time.

As much as I hate to admit it, I think this could be (finally) a step in the right direction for Mitsu.

Now if only they would realize that the 2-door coupe and 4-door sedan markets are unique they might be seriously back in business.
