My name is Shane, I live in West Palm Beach. I used to have a 2g GSX with quite a few mods but engine blew and I sold it to a guy in Canada. I bought am FD Rx7 and I flew up to Pennsylvania to get it and I drove it down. Had it for about a year now. Engine blew on it at a stop light (idling) back in December (damn Dorito machines) and I decided to try something custom and I put an RB25 into the car. Made all the mounts and diff mount (stock used a brace from diff to tranny, cant use that anymore with rb25 trans). Also to compensate for the heavier motor up front I made it a rear mount radiator to help balance it out a bit, along with cf hood, fiberglass fenders, removed ABS, rear mount battery etc. Anyway car runs great. I want to start on an Eclipse RB20 project. I'll take any model eclipse as long as it's a 2g and cheap. But yea that's what I've been up to since I left. Here's some pics of the swap. Glad to be back and hope I can start on another DSM.

Alright! Out with the old blown 13B-TT...

Get outta there Dorito Machine! You've failed me for the last time!
Image
In with the new. First drop in to see how it looks..
Image
Hmm looks like it'll work just fine! But we have work ahead of ourselves! Oil pan, Steering rack, and subframe are not working for us..
Image
Cut out trans tunnel a bit for M's shift knob to poke through hah
Image
Took motor back out, did our measurements, and started on the motor mounts..
Image
Since the RX7 subframe doesn't really have any place to make a traditional subframe motor mount, so we made a frame mount instead..
Image
Image
Getting them in place..
Image
Image
Image
Both sides in
Image
Put motor back in and started on the trans mount..
Image
Trans mount done!
Image
Since we are no longer able to use the PPF, that bolts the diff to the tranny, we had to make our own peice..
Image
Image
Fits in there just nicely..
Image
Image
Image
Brace all done!
Image
Image
Diff cross brace..
Image
Image
All bolted in and good..
Image
Now with the motor and diff sitting proper, measured the driveshaft length needed and got it done..
Image
On to the steering rack issue, it was sitting way to high. Fine for the rotary which sat behind it, but not for our I6 that sits on top of it. So it was modified..
Image
And put in place..
Image
Now to the oil pan, needed to make a fully custom one, stock would not work no way no how..
Image
Due the us moving the sump further back on the pan, we also had to make a custom oil pickup. And it's all done and pretty..
Image
Image
Loading motor back in for a test fit..
Image
Now with motor sitting in its spot, we now had a new clearance concern. The intake manifold was making it unable for the hood to close. So out with the old in with the new..
Image
Test fit
Image
Rail and all back in place
Image
This manifold requires use of a Q45 Throttle body. They require a little bit to work right..
Image
Image
Image
Manifold all in and good, hood now closes with ease.
Image
Image
Rear Mount radiator...
Image
How car looks right now (need to get a new front bumper and repaint..

Let me know if you have a 2g for sale cheap! Thanks for looking

Looks like some thought went into this project, for sure.

Good work Shane, what does it need to run?
